Corner Table disappointment
Was in the neighborhood so decided to try Corner Table tonight. I'd never been and heard so many good things about it that I was excited to try it. Ended up having the wild mushroom pasta special. It was an incredibly small portion of rather underwhelming pasta, but what disappointed me more (and it's my own fault for not asking ahead of time) is that the dish was $17! I could have gotten 2 to 3 times the serving of pasta at Bar La Grassa for that much and it would have been 10 times better. Seems like everything is horribly overpriced there. The waitress was nice, but I don't see a return in a very long time - if ever.

We ate there in its early days and were underwhelmed. Service was less than indifferent and the food was overpriced and so-so. I have since wondered if we should give them another try, based upon continued rave reviews, but maybe the emperor really doesn't have any clothes?
I've been there twice this summer. The first time, I got the 5 course tasting ($65) and it ended up being one of the 2 or 3 best meals I've ever had. On top of that, I left completely stuffed. The second time, I went there with my lady friend and we got the 3 course ($45). The portions seemed much more sparse and I left hungry.
The food was excellent both times, FWIW. IIRC, there was 1 dish out of the 8 that I didn't enjoy.
I'm a HUGE fan of this place, but if I have any complaint, it would be portion size. I understand the philosophy behind places like Piccolo (small plates in the $10-15 range), but CT is charging more than that for dishes that are supposed to be entree size.
Not a reason to never go back, but certainly a negative for me.
