Dinner in OK between Bartlesville and Ponca city

  • 6

Will be spending the night somewhere along Route 60. Any suggestions for dinner on a Monday night?

  1. I'd go on to Ponca and have some BBQ at Head Country. there are a few places in Pawhuska but I only know about other restaurants owned by the same siblings as Hernandez. Reliable tex mex, nothing special, and the one here where I live is closed Mondays. Bad Brad's is a local BBQ chain but I have never eaten there. Its a beautiful drive if you love wide open spaces and great skies. If you find something wonderful along the way, please share.
The more I visit Ponca City the more I like it. I have had a couple of good simple Italian meals at Zino's, and really like their carrot soup.

I have never been to the Bad Brad's in Pawhuska which I think is the original but I have been to the one in Yukon and it is one of the better BBQ's in the Oklahoma City area. I went to the Head Country BBQ in Ponca City once years ago and liked it. Their sauce is really good and is sold in grocery stores all over Oklahoma and even in Oklahoma Joe's in Kansas City.

    2. Murphy's in Bartlesville is a fav..... burgers, gravy + fries, this crazy salad with weird but good dressing. Diner atmosphere.....

Ate at the other Hernandez- owned restaurant & learned of a new item not on the menu. Ask for street tacos. very good. pork.

Having started our day with lunch at Oklahoma Joe's outside KC we did not want BBQ for dinner. While driving towards Ponca City to find a place for dinner I noticed noticed or more accurately smelled Bad Brad's. My wife said "I don't want BBQ". After 1/2 mile I turned around and said "tough it smells great we are having BBQ. We shared smoked sausage, fried okra, and cowboy beans. All of which were great. We had fries which were ok and a blackberry cobbler which should be avoided.
Betty, I want to thank you for the mention about the drive on RT 60. It was special. After dinner our westward journey sent us into a gorgeous sunset with quite the panoramic view. BTW my wife was very happy that we stopped at Bad Brads.
