Recomendations for Special Occasion Dinner for Husband's 30th

I am looking for recommendations for my husband's 30th birthday in early October. We are adventurous eaters and one of the things we love the most is a truly excellent meal out. We live in the city and have enjoyed dinners at Blue Hill, Momofuku Ko, Babbo, Lupa, Keens, Dylan Prime, Strip House, The Little Owl, all of Michael White's restaurants -- Osteria Morini is a fave, and more. I am looking to take him to a restaurant that provides a really special and romantic food experience, without being super formal. He is definitely a steak lover!

I have heard fantastic things on this board about EMP, so that is one idea. Am also considering Gramercy Tavern and Bouley.

Budget is $300-$350 total including tax and tip. Thanks for any suggestions or other ideas!

I actually had a great meal at Gotham Bar and Grill. Also, what about the front part of Daniel? Also a great meal that has intimacy is Annisa.

Hard to see Original Palm, only one I've been at, as romantic in the way most people use the term.
I'd look for restaurants that meet your other requisites and consider the steak they likely offer (menupages will tell you though for evaluation you could use CH).

$350 before tax/tip = about $135 per person menu price. Difference maker: how much do you usually drink? Each glass of wine can run $10 - $15, cocktails at the high end of that. Three drinks each could subtract $60 - $90 from the budget, two bottles of wine could easily be $80 - $100 (on the cheap) at a high end place. It's the difference between, say, an EMP and a WD-50.

I would probably estimate 2 glasses of wine each or a bottle. Might be willing to increase my budget for a really special place.

Based on your previous dinners, I think you'll enjoy:

            Ciano
            Scarpetta
            Lincoln
            Wolfgang's
            Brooklyn Fare (BYOB)

Recently ate at Scarpetta and loved the entire meal. It was very crowded and loud though. Fine with me but if the OP is looking for a special birthday meal or any romantic atmosphere this might be a deterent.
