Having been fortunate enough to dine at some of the world's best restaurants, I have to say that my experience last night at Corton was just outstanding. The perfect ambiance, service, food and wine blew me away as there are only a few restaurants in NYC of this level. We did the tasting menu paired with wines. This was 8 courses that were matched perfectly with a half glass of wine or Champagne with each course. There were 3 starters that the Chef brought out and then the courses came one after another and although dinner was 3 hours, it felt like half of that since we loved it so much. There were edible flowers, foams, fish, squab, vegetables and truffles. Then....desserts.

I would say RUN to this restaurant if you have the chance.

I think in this level, the others that were on par were:
      Daniel
      Le Bernardin
      Masa
      Jean George
....and a few others, but not many are as creative and precise all the while having each bite totally decadent.

I agree, although I did not do the tasting menu when I went last April, I thoroughly enjoyed what we I ate and thought it was some of the most creative meals I have had.

Looks like Corton no longer offers the 3 course prix fixe, just tasting menus (8 courses for $155 or 6 courses for $115). I should return soon based on this review.

I thought the tasting menu was fantastic but the service fell short of expectations.

Our service was perfection. The wine director was poring and explaining wines right before the dish it was paired with came out. The server explained each dish and sauce as well as sides in detail. We had another waiter just for water and one for bread.

I'm a big fan of Corton as well. Glad you enjoyed your meal there.
