Cheeses, sausage, jerky?

Hello,

We will be in AZ for 9 days- Phx, Flagstaff, Sedona, GCNP and would like to grab some snacks for travel and evenings with wine and cheese(and cards).

Any suggestions where to purchase gourmet cheeses? Source for fresh breads?

Also, we would like to find some good local jerky and sausages (esp landjaeger) if available?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Mike

First time in Phoenix. Will be in driving around town for a day and a half for sightseeing and trying some restaurants. Varied locations not a problem.

I don't remember if Stanley's Sausage sells a landjaeger, but they do sell a variety of smoked sausages and smoked cured whole cuts, in primarily Polish and other Eastern European styles.

Schreiners should probably be mentioned in this thread. They make sausage for a number of local restaurants.

Von Hansen's is a Minnesota butcher chain that also has one shop in Chandler. Pretty sure they make their own jerky and sausages (supposedly nearly 60 varieties of sausages and smoked meats), bake their own bread, have a decent wine selection and probably carry some interesting cheeses too.

You can get Landjaeger at a couple German stores that I know of.

Wedge & Bottle in Chandler has a very nice selection of cheese and snacks with some sausage as well. Beer and wine too. They are located just a few miles off the 10 on Chandler Blvd. & 40th Street (near Trader Joes).

I heartily agree with MesaChow. I haven't seen any of the other places listed on here (yet) but I was very happy with Wedge and Bottle. The selection isn't huge, but their cheese and charcuterie selection is thoughtful.

It was the first place that I ever found Jamon Iberico... a must-try for any cured meat fan. Read about it if you have a chance.
