Road Trip From TX to CA...Where/What to Eat.

I will be traveling to the Sacramento area in a few days. By way of 287 thru Amarillo on to I-40 all the way to Barstow area of California, before I turn onto I-15 to CA-58 to CA-99 onto Sacramento.
What are some of your favorite places you can recommend on this journey.
I look forward to your replies and hope to try some new foods and places I haven't yet.

  1. Cope's Knotty Pine Cafe in Bakersfield for chicken fried steak breakfast, if you can make it. You'll remember it. I've enjoyed Woolgrowers in Bakersfield for dinner, too.

    1. Roughly 75 miles west of Flagstaff you will see an exit for Seligman. Take it and you will then be on the old route 66 through the town of Seligman. It is worth the short detour, and it really is quite short, and if it is lunch time you can get a tasty burger and some excellent entertainment at the Snow Cap. You can Google Seligman and see some pictures of the town. It is a fun little escape from a rather boring stretch of freeway. I would highly recommend it.

      1. Oh, and also if it is near lunch or dinner stop at Domingo's 40 miles west of Barstow in a little community called Boron. Suprisingly good Mexican food in a very out of the way location. Again, not far off the road on the 58 between Barstow and Mojave

        1. Just a quick note that BeckJ has also posted on the Texas and California boards, so if you have suggestions for those portions of the poster's journey, you can find those threads on their profile -- just click on their username above.

          1. The Turquoise Room at La Posada in Winslow is great. Especially if you enjoy trains.
