Seafood in Midtown

Fellow Hounds!

Looking for a good seafood restaurant for a business dinner. Not too pricey but quiet atmosphere so conversations can be heard.

Thanks all!!

Thank so much! Yes I guess I should have been more specific with price. LeBernardin Marea are just a little out of the ball park. The rest are great choices! Thanks so much and I completely forgot about Pampano LUV that place!

Docks (Third Avenue at 40th) is good, straightforward seafood that attracts a largely business clientele for weekday dinners. Not the most interesting menu, but high quality and completely reliable. Dinner entrees $25-$30.

A specific price range for food would probably help Manhattan 'hounds narrow down your choices. Should we assume that restaurants like Le Bernardin, Esca, Milos and Marea are out?

Pampano is a good, business dinner-friendly Mexican seafood restaurant that's a bit less expensive than the above mentioned. The dining room is attractive and quiet enough for talking, service has been very discreet and on the ball when I've been. Mains range from $24 to $34. I don't know if you'd find the $50 tasting dinner doable for a business dinner, but it is an excellent deal.

I haven't been since shortly after it opened and then only went for lunch, but the midtown location of Ethos is also moderately priced. Fish -- in my experience very fresh -- is priced by the pound and generally under $20 / lb. Hopefully someone else can speak to its suitability for a business dinner.

People can interpret "not too pricey" quite differently, so it would be more helpful to have a per person budget for food only (drinks, tax & tip additional). But that said....

I highly recommend Oceana, our favorite seafood restaurant. The food is superb, service is pleasant and attentive, the very large space has attractive decor, and the noise level is conversation-friendly.
