flank steak/London broil for chili?

Hi. I've broil a flank steak, aka London Broil, to rare and cut it thinly. It's not tough at all and cooked fine.
I have a lot left over and wondered if I made chili with it, would that make it tough.
Thanks

You can do it, but it's kind of a waste. Flank steak is best quickly grilled and sliced on the bias against the grain. For chili just use the cheapest beef cut you can find on sale, usually round roast or round steak. After browning and a couple hours of simmering they all taste about the same.

It'll be fine in chili, but I would just eat it as is, and save chili for something like chuck.

I actually love steaks like flank in chili - what I do is make chili as I normally would but with less ground beef, then add the steak (cooked to my liking and cut into cubes) right at the end, almost as a garnish. It stays rare and tender that way.

I just made chili with london broil yesterday - it was awesome.

Just because most people advocate using cheap meat in chili doesn't mean you must. Use what you like!

Slow simmering on the stove or in the crockpot make this cut a great choice for chili, soup, stews, etc.

London broil is fine (top round, that is). [I like lean meat.]
Flank steak is wrong. it's just crying out to be ropa vieja (and that's practically the same dish as chili -- tomato pepper base...don't forget the olives!)

I used left over London broil in chili and it was great. Since it was already cooked, I just added it in at the end.

That's the way I like to cook - imagine what I want, and adapt the recipe(s) to fit the ingredients.

Like Forunder says; sandwiches with the flank steak/London broil.
Chili calls for cheap cuts stewed 'til tender.

Which advice are you going to take...chili or not? If you want chili, make it. If you prefer a steak sandwich, have one. I agree that flank steak is a bit pricey for chili.

A vote for NO to the Flank steak for chili........make a nice steak sandwich instead.

The only thing that I can suggest is to try it and see if it works. It should not take long to prepare since the meat is already cooked and sliced.
