Baker's Best in Newton up for sale

"Bakers' Best announced plans today to sell its popular cafe in the heart of Newton Highlands so that it can concentrate on its growing catering business.

"The busy restaurant on Lincoln Street has long been a place for Newton residents to meet over breakfast muffins or the cafe’s famous chicken and grape salad, lobster rolls, and panini sandwiches. It will remain open until a buyer is found, the owner said."

This is sad. They have been a fixture in the neighborhood for more than 30 years. I remember when Michael used to sell roast turkey sandwiches in a store front across the street, and he used to give samples and free cookies to all who came in.

Wow i can't believe that, it makes me sad. Will they be selling it as bakers best or are they just selling the location? I know that do a very successful catering business and that it probably takes most of their time but I liked it there.

That is SUCH a bummer. I love their chicken salad, and while their catering business is great, not having their cafe will be a loss to the community.

ditto on the chicken salad! I've had many of their catered box lunches and the cafe food is much better.
