seafood shack tour of new england recommendations

me and my girlfriend are going on a seafood shack tour of new england this week and are looking for recommendations. we are looking for the best local seafood around new england at no frills hole in the walls with excellent lobster rolls, steamer clams, etc...

we would also love to have some reasonable raw bar stuff, anybody know of any good places with a dollar oyster happy hour or something like that? any info would be greatly appreciated.

Lobster Landing in Clinton is your ultimate lobster roll source. For a raw bar par excellance, try Liv's Oyster Bar in Old Saybrook (not a shack!).

The aptly named Clam Shack at the mouth of Falmouth Harbor on the Cape is quite excellent. Sit outside on wharf picnic tables, and watch the boats come and go with the Vineyard in the distance. Great setting, excellent clams and fish and chips. Prices get a little more down to earth after Labor day.

The Clam Castle on Rt. 1 in Madison, CT. Everything is good there. No frills, eat inside or out.

The Dock in Niantic, CT and Captain Scott's Lobster Dock in New London both deserve to be on the list imo.

The Clam Box in Ipswitch, MA can not be missed. It is the quintessential clam shack from the land of clam shacks.

Its a long coast line. Any specific area that you're planning on visiting or are you starting in CT and heading up to ME? If that's the plan I will second starting at the Lobster Shack in Branford CT and maybe ending at the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth ME. In between, there's the Clam Castle in Madison. Lots of other choices on the shoreline in CT. So which way are you heading?

I saw it at the Portland Jetport within a few days after it was released. Looks like a good resource!
