What are butter biscuit cookies??

Hi,

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a recipe for a espresso-hazelnut cheesecake.
For the crust I'm to finely grind 8 1/2 oz. of butter biscuit cookies. What are they??? I'm thinking a shortbread cookie?

The other ingredients for the crust are hazelnuts, sugar, cinnamon and 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter.

Thank you all! I did go to miejers and get the butter biscuts. The cheese cake was amazing!!! Everyone loved the crust so I ended up serving the Bahlsen's cookies also.

Next time i will try the shortbread cookie just to see :)

For another use of the butter biscuits, definitely check out kattyeyes (the poster above) who has a recipe for bourbon balls using these biscuits. See: http://kattyskitchen.wordpress.com/20... .

I have a recipe with a similar-but-chocolate crust that wants chocolate 'nilla wafers. I think you'd be fine with any butter-cookie type cookie, including regular-vanilla 'nilla wafers.

Bahlsen's Leibniz Keks are butter biscuits and would work.

Bahlsen's are my FAVORITE butter biscuits--far superior to LU's Little Schoolboy.
          Here are the actual biscuits:

Last time I tried to buy them, I had to buy the butter leaves--same cookie, different shape:

That's gonna be one awesome cheesecake, by the way!

Isn't it your recipe that calls for Bahlsen's Butter Biscuits for the bourbon balls? Absolutely fantastic recipe. That's all I think of now when I hear "butter biscuits"! :)

We've always referred to Peak Frean's shortcake biscuits as butter biscuits. I beleive they'd work well for your crust.

yes, I'd use shortbread or any sort of buttery, unflavored cookie.

Even graham crackers would do -- although they'd add a fairly pronounced flavor.
