Will be visiting UVA and then headed to Staunton for a play. Would love any food recommendations you have for either place.

Thank you!

  1. Wright's Dairy Rite in Staunton. Old School, original, can't say enough good things about the onion rings. Service is awesome. Good milkshakes, too.

    1. Mrs. Rowe's. Just off 81. Family owned, country cooking. Their baked goods are great-plan to take some home with you. IF they have it, the pumpkin roll is great. Also like the coconut cream pie. They have a web site, just google Mrs. Rowe's.

        TY, sherriberry. :)

      2. If you're looking for something a little more upscale, and within walking distance of the Shakespeare Theatre, I stongly recommend Staunton Grocery. An incredible menu, great service, and surprisingly sophisticated (sorry all you Stauntonites, no disrespect intended) food.

Another vote for Staunton Grocery. They have great, fresh food.

        2. Last time we went to the Shakespeare Center weate at Mill Street Grill first. A little more old school than the Staunton Grocery, but the food is very good. They didn't bat an eye when I asked for my salmon medium rare and it came out perfectly cooked!
