cheap eats near Silversmith Hotel, 10 S. Wabash

Hi. I'm in town for 36 hours, with family, staying at the Silversmith Hotel, seeing the Art Institute on Wednesday, taking a boat ride up river Thursday, then getting out of town.

Where should we, with kids and grandma, eat lunch, dinner, breakfast, and lunch, all within a few blocks of the Silvermith?

Many thanks.

  1. For breakfast or lunch, go to Heaven on Seven. It's on the seventh floor of a downtown office building a block north of the hotel on Wabash. They specialize in cajun/creole food but have more mainstream foods as well.

For lunch or dinner, go to Pizano's on Madison. It's right around the corner from the hotel. They have authentic Chicago deep-dish pizza.

You might also want to have a lunch or dinner at Park Grill. It's at the entrance to Millennium Park, a block east of the hotel. The food is American. Maybe a better choice at lunchtime, when they have burgers, sandwiches, and salads on the menu. If it's a nice day, sit and eat outside on their large patio.

If you think good pub fare (steaks, burgers, ribs) might work for everyone, Miller's Pub is a block and a half south of the hotel.

    1. Oasis Cafe, a Middle Eastern restaurant located at the back of the Jewlelers Mall )itself a rather fascinating place), 21 N Wabash

If you plan to go to Oasis Cafe, note that it's lunch only.
