Pasadena restaurant
Need a recommendation for a nice dinner house in Pasadena, for 2 couples -not $$$ or ethnic -

The three of us in my family just had dinner the other night at Central Park. We all liked everything we ordered and it was not expensive. I'm pretty critical of wine lists, but they had a good selection of moderately priced wines. We had good service also.

Just two questions - what's "$$$" and what does "ethnic" mean to you? Most/all? restaurants here serve food of some ethnicity, or with strong ethnic influences, so does this rule out something like straight-ahead Italian (Briganti), or sort of "global gastropub" like Kings Row? Both are pretty excellent local choices.
And for cost/value, Raymond is pretty good, but it's probably one of the more expensive spots in town, sort of the $30-40 range for entrees as I recall, appetizers 10-20, add wine and you're north of $200 pretty quick.
Had good and reasonable American/bistro-type dinners lately at Parkway Grill (yeah, still pretty good), Green St. Tavern, Kings Row.

I suppose Malbec is sort of ethnic - Argentinian - but it's as close to non-ethnic / ethnic as I think you can find and it is very good, reasonably priced, nice wines, good steaks / seafood, etc. and a very nice atmosphere.
I was there yesterday for lunch, by the way. Very nice place for lunch. I had a delicious arugula salad with grilled shrimp, avocado, blue cheese, some other stuff. My friend has a fish soup that was excellent. It was very reasonably priced, though at first the service was almost non-existent. I had to finally get up, find a waiter and tell him we wanted to order.
