Freezer meal for Parents and Toddler when Baby #2 is born?

I am looking for something other than lasagna or chicken pot pie to bring the family when they have baby #2. I don't really know what their two year old eats though. Any suggestions as to what I can make and bring them? Thanks so much!

  1. Since you don't know what the toddler eats, bring something that can be deconstructed, such as wedding soup. It can be frozen, and if the older child is picky, the parents can easily remove a few meatballs (make them tiny), and some pasta and put them in a bowl. Beef stew is another good option. The meat and veggies are tender, and the flavoriings are usually mild enough for a small child, but not dull. You could also do Marcella Hazan's tomato sauce (simmer lg can of San Marzano tomatoes with 1 peeled whole onion and 5 tbsp butter for 45 minutes) Most people like it, as it's very rich and mellow. All they'd need to do is defrost and serve over pasta or rice.

    1. I have been both giver and receiver at this stressful period. My go to dish would be shepherds pie. Sauted ground beef with onions bottom layer, corn (fresh, frozen, canned your choice) and creamy mash potatoes on top. This meal requires very little chewing (ideal for sleep deprived parents)
