pizza in the east 50s
we're headin to NYC again and would like to go to a real NYC pizza place. We're both from the Bronx(we're now in our 60s) and loved the old by the slice, greasy thin pizza we got then.Last year we tried Angelos and it was too new age for us.Our best pizza was in a hole in the wall place near the WTC location--but would like to find a spot within walking distance of our hotel at 53rd and rd."Best pizza on 1st" looks interesting, but any suggestuons would be welcome. We're not intot the fancy Hawaian pizzas et al, just a very good pepperoni and cheese--thanks

Midtown is a pizza vortex. Most of the pizza is for office worker drones, like myself.
You really should hop on a train a few stops if you want a slice joint. @ 42nd you can go to Guiseppe's on Lex and 39th or Royal on 3rd and 38th. Or down to 14th for Artichoke or Mariella on 16th and 3rd. Or up to Patsy's in E./Spanish Harlem.
