Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in France (including Paris, Nice, Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Marseilles)

Parents 40th Anniversary Weekend in France - Suggestions For Everything To Eat

My parents will be in Paris for 3 nights, 4 days
They love to eat - they will eat anything (from 3 michelin star to street vendor food)
I have not been to Paris in 10 years and so my experience is outdated
I'm hoping for some quick and dirty suggestions - money is no object but I'd imagine they will likely eat for dinner 1 all out experience dinner, 1 midrange and 1 more casual bistro

my dad loves seafood and also loves new and trendy restaurants
my mom loves middle eastern cuisine (falafel, schwarma, bourekas, etc) and would love to know where to perhaps get some lunches
my dad also love moules and frites (perhaps a lunch?)

They also have friends in Paris and therefore access to a vehicle and don't mind travelling to a great place.

I would also wonder about dessert places and wow bakeries

Thank you in advance for all of your help

  1. I think the primary reason you are not getting any response is that much of what you are looking for have been covered extensively on these board. Below is an abbreviated summary:
Michelin fine dining: best overall experience is Guy Savoy; best food and ingredients in the post nouvelle cuisine style is L'Ambroisie; for the adventurous is Pierre Gagnaire; beautiful room, impeccable service and very good food is Le Cinq; conservative and safe is Taillevent.
Midrange: not a great group but try Dominque Bouchet, Les Angles du Faubourg, if interested in the cooking of the Southwest is Au Trou Gascon, the traditional Chez Josephine, more modern is Violon d'Ingres
Bistrots: the traditional Chez Denise and Chez Georges; less traditional are Chez L'Ami Jean, Le Regalade, Spring, Claude Coillot, Les Papilles, Le Baratin plus many more if you incline to search this board. My under the radar favorites are L'Avant Gout, Beurre Noisette, Le Grand Pan, L’Assiette, Casa L’Olympe.
Since your parents are only there for a weekend, forget about looking for seafood specfic as just about every restaurant/bistro will have good seafood options. Or maybe Le Dome.
New and/or trendy for the food set (not necessarily for the beautiful people groupies): Saturne, Septime, Frenchie, Chateaubriand, Rino, Agape.
Middle Eastern cuisine: just head to rue des Rosier in the Marais for falafel.
    Moules: La Cagouille
Access to a vehicle: your parents should forget about driving in Paris; either take taxi, the great public transport system or have their Parisian friends do the driving.
    Patisseries and boulangeries:
The big names: Pierre Herme, Laduree, Poilane, LeNotre
In the center: Mulot, Patisserie des Reves, Hugo & Victor, Stohrer, Pain de Sucre, Jacques Genin, Carl Marletti, Maison Kayser, Gosslin, Gregory Renard, Sadaharu Aoki; hardly scratch the surface.
Desserts: no places that serve just desserts; try Salon des The and for after hours, just have to do with cafes.
Hope the above will fill your parents weekend. Please ask them to report back about their experience. Most restaurants except brasseries and those in hotels are closed Sundays.
