Great Steak Casual Atmosphere in New Hope/Lambertville?

Looking for a good place to go and have a nice steak dinner tonight in New Hope or Lambertville. Any suggestions are appreciated. BYOB or not is fine, would prefer a more relaxed atmosphere.

  1. Hamilton's Grill in Lambertville is byob and might be what you are looking for. Marsha Brown's also has good steaks.

+1 for Marsha Brown's though their high school kids valet parking annoys me. Further up the road in Peddlars Village you also have Earl's which produces decent steaks.

    2. Where did you wind up at, Johnny?

      1. The grill at Hamilton Grill Room has amazing flavors! We've been there 3 times in the last 2 months.

Tastebuds on the New Hope side has a pretty awesome filet mignon as well. -mJ

        1. appreciate the suggestions. We actually ended up outside at Havana - it was Friday Fireworks and they have a nice view. I love Havana for the people watching and outside atmosphere - but the food is just okay - nothing spectacular.

It would be nice if either town had a bleu jeans and sandals type place to get a well cooked meal!

In 2011, you can basically wear bluejeans and sandals anywhere. I've even seen that or shorts at Broadway shows!

If you can forgo steak, No.9 is a perennial favorite of ours-- casual with great food and a chef that cares!

I heard that Rouget (from Newtown, Pa) was moving into No. 9's spot. Is that really true?

                From their website:

                Rouget in Newtown is closed.

We've had a great run and made a lot of new friends. We are proud of what we've accomplished here, and are so appreciative of your support. But it is time for a change, and change we will.

In October, we are opening a new restaurant called Brian’s at 9 Kline's Court, Lambertville, NJ. We couldn't be more excited, especially since it's not too far for most of our old customers, and puts Brian’s in the middle of one of the region's best restaurant scenes. It's going to be a different space, a different feel, and a different menu. Exactly how different chef Brian Held hasn't decided yet. But don't bet against amazing!

Oh, that's too bad. I was last at No. 9 in June; It had a long run, maybe about 10 years at that spot. Always enjoyed dining there. I guess the chef decided to move on, place was always busy, but you never know in the volatile world of restaurant ownership.

I was bummed to see this place go. They had some great short ribs, but I think it was their lack of customers during the week that did them in. Weekends we were packed, but last time we were there on a Wednesday night for my birthday, we were 1 of 2 tables, and we were there for an hour and 45 minutes. What a shame...this place was great!

                    1. re: njfoodies

While It is true that mid week business was lacking, the true reason for closing was actually due to extremely poor landlord/ tenant relations and reasonable assignment or renewal of lease.

We've done drinks at Havana many times, but their food is mediocre at best, and very overpriced. Do they still have the $18 shrimp nachos? That was ridiculous... -mJ

16 dollar chicken nachos ... and they use a mix for their mojitos. They are a bar/music venue that happens to serve food in my opinion. The outdoor bar is so nice, that you forget each time you go there how bad the food is. Unfortunately great food is hard to find in New Hope.

                1. re: cwdonald

I got a mojito there once and sent it back. I will not drink a mojito mix mojito or one with mint flavored rum or mint schnapps instead of real mint. Had a mojito at Marsha Brown's once that was also undrinkable.

I think The Raven has always had good food.

But...perhaps certain folks have difficulty with the general clientele at the place. ::Shrug:: Their loss.

                    1. re: huiray

I had always heard the Raven had a reputation for good food . Then they got shut down for serving underage drinkers, and only recently reopened. Have you been there recently and is the food as good as it used to be?

                      1. re: cwdonald

I see. No, I have not been recently - so if the kitchen has changed since then, I am unaware of it.

Cwdonald: try Tastebuds in New Hope. You won't be disappointed! -mJ

                        Cool thanks for the recommendation!

                    3. re: njfoodies

Yup, don't really enjoy Havana for beers either. $6 for a draft and while they usually have some decent choices, I don't think the turnover is real great on some of the microbrews so the taste is often "off". I'd rather go to Triumph for beers where at least I know it is fresh, and only $5 a pint... $3 all day on Tuesdays and they also offer happy hour specials.

                      1. re: njfoodies

My friends and I stopped going there long before I moved away. They managed to suck us in so many times with that provolone/garlic skillet app they have! But the entrees were always disappointing (though I did like their burgers).
