ISO Pasta Bolognese

Where's the best pasta bolognese to be found in Toronto? Looking for a birthday dinner venue for a family member who loves this dish.

Always been a fan of Banfi's Spaghetti Bolognese....but they don't take reservations.

I am going to throw you a curve ball and suggest an 'Italian/Japanese' pasta bar called ' Shiso Tree Cafe' inside J-Town. You'll be surprised by the quality of their pastas! Their Bolognese sauce actually uses a mix of Angus beef and veal and Berkeshire pork! Surprisingly authentic and tasty. Tutti Mati's wild boar ragu pasta is pretty good too!.

Finally made it to Shiso Tree for lunch and was not disappointed. Tasty Bolognese sauce and al dente pasta to my liking. My husband ordered a seafood pasta and really enjoyed it. All in all a great experience with great service as well. What a lovely atmosphere. I can't believe it took this long for me to find J-Town and its associated eateries (also recommend Niwatei ramen).

I had dinner at Tutti Matti years ago, I think it was the first year they opened, and happened to have ordered that ragu pasta dish. It was memorable - tender meat, fresh garlic and tomato on wide egg noodles. Definitely time to go back!

The old Terroni at Balmoral used to do a delicious pasta bolognese. I'm not sure if it's on the menu at the new location but I'm sure they still have it at the Adelaide location. I always ask for extra sauce!

"I always ask for extra sauce!"

And do they serve you the extra sauce when you ask for it?

Yes. They charge me for it but it's worth it.

I love Terroni. I will have to order that dish next time I'm there; with extra sauce : P

Excellent tagliatelle bolognese at the former Romagna Mia, now re-named Pagenelli's or something close to that (!) on Front near Jarvis. I always order it without peas, the appeal of which in that context eludes me...
