Calgary Restarurant Closures - Say it Ain't So!!

Does anyone know if Olives has closed its doors for good? The website is down.
Secondly, I walked past St. Germain earlier today and saw a letter posted on the door. It appears to be from the landlord's lawyers and mentions unpaid rent and the landlord exercising its right to re-enter the premises.
I hope neither establisment has gone out of business as, in my opinion, they were both important members of the Calgary restaurant scene, particularly in the East Beltline - Victoria Park area.

  1. I mean "Restaurant" and "establishment". Best to nip this in the bud before the typo police attack.

    1. Damn, I had an unused Dealfind coupon from St Germain...

I've got one too! I phoned, and the number has been disconnected.

          FYI, Dealfind's FAQ page says:

I Bought A Dealfind Voucher and Now That Business Closed Down... Can I Get My Money Back?

If anything happens making it impossible for you to redeem your voucher, we will ensure you are fully refunded.

This article might be of interest. "Fully refunded" to me means full food value, not the amount you paid.

            1. re: Satiated

That article deals with expiration dates, not if a business closes down before the customer gets an opportunity to use the coupon.

Jetgirly - I'm going to write Dealfind and I'll let you know what they say.

I had a Groupon for St. Germain. Groupon refunded my credit card. No problems.

        3. St Germain has been in a downward slide for quite some time now. Can't say I'm overly surprised.

As for Olives, my heart really goes out to all the business which signed leases on the main floor of the Arriva tower while banking on 3 more towers showing up in the near future. The wine bar on the other side of the tower closed shop several months back, and I can't see the designer furniture/lighting shops lasting that long either. I'm sure the underpass construction at olympic way is not helping them out either.

Agreed - I had one good meal at St Germain's quite a long time ago but experiences in the last couple years have all been mediocre and poor service. Personally it was sad to see it spiral downward, hope this now opens the doors for a better food proprietor and management.

          2. Olives officially closed it's doors the first day after Stampede.
