Eating Report - L'Atelier, Aureole, Border Grill brunch, Cut, Milos lunch

Hash House a Go Go in M Resort - Wifey had meatloaf and eggs. I had some kind of
benedict thing bacon. Wifey said the sliced tomatoes actually tasted of ripe tomato.
I like their Bloody Marys.

Bradley Ogden lounge - Had drinks and hummus plate. Hummus was very good with a
bit of Indian spice to it. Came with a massive pile of fresh hot pita.

Stratta - Late night menu. Had cesar salad and pizza. Wifey had some kind of pasta
carbonara. Nothing special but better than most alternatives given the hour.

Peppermill - Big and greasy breakfasts. Like always.

Aureole - Unable to sit in the Swan Court due to some wine dinner going on.
We had the parallel tasting menu.
First course was lobster and green papaya salad/fluke carpaccio. Unifying ingredient
was pineapple. Preferred the lobster papaya sald. Fluke was meh.
Second course was seared tuna loin/pan roasted diver scallop. Unifying ingredient carrot.
Liked both of these with the scallop being exceptionally good. Scallop was on a bed
of short rib meat with seemed unusual pairing but worked quite well. Not really much
carrot in either dish though.
Third course was pistachio crusted lamb/lamb confit. Liked both of these too and could
imagine ordering either as a full main course. I guess the unifying theme was lamb.
Desert was peach. There was a peach tart which was okay and a lavender peach ice cream
on pastry that was exceptionally good.

L'Atelier - We each ordered the Club Menu with an extra course.
Amuse was grapefruit gelee with avocado. It was fine once I picked off the cilantro.
First course was gazpacho. Quite exceptional since I normally dislike raw tomato.
Second was the fried langostine with basil. I could eat plate of those things.
Next was the extra course. Wifey ordered the oysters which she said were perfect.
I chose poorly and ordered the squid with chorizo and artichokes. Nothing wrong withe
the dish but I didn't notice that the next course also included squid.
Main course was John Dory fillets with a squid skewer. Simple but well executed dish.
The cheese course was rather pathetic although it wasn't missed since we were pretty
full by then. It was three slices of rather forgetable cheeses and bread. No fruit or
anything to accompany.
Desert was a selection of 6 tarts. I can't remember them all but they were all good.

Border Grill - Brunch. There were plenty of tasty options but the logistics were
somewhat problematic. There's a menu of small plates that you can choose from.
You order from your server and then your food is brought out to you. It's good
that everything is made to order but the kitchen wasn't real speedy so you have the
choice of ordering too much at once or have long gaps. Highlights were the carne
asada tacos, huevo ranchero, and chilaquiles. I'd skip the green corn tamales (too sweet)
and guava empanada (sweet gut bombs). I also liked the beer chelada style (on ice
with lots of lime juice). Brunch was $25. Also $5 for endless mimosas.

Cut - We were going to go to Valentino but after heavy Mexican food brunch, the idea
of Italian food later did not appeal so we cancelled that and booked a late table for
Cut. We started with crab/shrimp avocado salad which was a relatively light starter.
Also ordered the corn salad which had a Greek flavor with feta and tzatziki.
We split some kind of rib eye (RR ranch?) with fries. Steak was good but fries weren't
as good as I remember them. We skipped desert.

Milos - $20.11 lunch special. This is quite the deal for three courses. We shared
the octopus (+$10 supplement) and saganaki shrimp. The shrimp were good but the
octopus was the clear winner. Very tender and flavorful. For mains we both had
the lavraki (some kind of whole bass) with sauteed chard and spinach. Fish was fresh
and perfectly cooked. Just had to avoid a few bones. Dessert was a Greek yogurt
martini with honey and dried fruit and walnut cake thingie.

      I totally forgot about those restaurant.com certs for Border Grill.
      I had used a $50 one for Aureole and a $10 one for HHAGG.
