Looking for fresh sardines

I have a sicilian dish I want to make and the recipe calls for fresh sardine filets. Any suggestions as to where I can purchase this in New Orleans, Uptown preferably but don't mind driving.

I have not ordered from them, but Pescatore and Wild Edibles at Grand Central Station in NYC (both googleable) have them, just not every day -- and, of course, they ship. I have searched over and over for a local source only to come up empty. The good/bad news is that our fishmongers are primarily selling local seafood.

Try Restaurant Depot....you need a membership to get in, but they'll give you a membership if you have a business license or a nonprofit affiliiation.

I don't know if you'd have any luck, but maybe you could call Josh @ A Mano or John Harris @ Lilette and ask them their sources. Both have sardines as specials often.

I too would love to know a local source. Last year I got some through a friend who got them through a vendor. Too convoluted and not always repeatable.

Fresh whole grilled (quality) sardines are great.
