Guilty Breakfast Pleasures

Spicy patty sausage at the Black Bear Diner, cinnamon rolls at the Farmhouse, cheesy eggs at Waffle House, French Toast at Cracker Barrel, 49er’s at The Original Pancake House, Percival’s “Hot” Pad at TC Eggington’s.

What are some of your guilty pleasures and favorite sins for Breakfast? Preferably Scottsdale or the East Valley.

Gourmet or decidedly un-gourmet are fine.

  1. 5th Ave Cafe.

A bit far from the location you are looking for. It is a great place for breakfast, just like a diner where local folks go for breakfast. The place is always busy and the staff are friendly and efficient. You get your water and coffee before you open the menu.

French Toast, Bkfst burrito and Green chili omelet are high on my list.

          1. Apple Fritters from Joe's Farm Grill... The Breakfast Tacos are pretty good while you're there...

Also the breakfast burrito next door at The Coffee Shop is pretty good... Also San Diegan Omelet...

But where ever you go pick up some cupcakes at The Coffee Shop... Those are good any time of the day.

The ham and gruyere fritters with boysenberry syrup from Joe's Farm Grill are great as well. Bread pudding from Liberty Market makes a delightfully sinful breakfast.

            2. If I wake up late enough, an ice cream sandwich from Sweet Republic.

              1. Wrong area totally, but I love the Sunset Cafe in Maricopa. My husband is partial to their omelets and I love their scrambles but it is all good, and guilt-inducing because one breakfast entree is probably enough calories to last a long weekend.

                1. My guilty breakfast pleasure is the quiche at Mimi's Cafe. It's quite the fine quiche; goodness knows I've had worse quiches in much better restaurants. The fruit and gigantic muffin it comes with are nice touches, and they pour a tasty mimosa.

Cheese enchiladas with an egg on top at Dick's Hideaway. If I don't plan on doing anything with the rest of my day, combine it with a nice margarita or two.

Or the crab cake eggs bene! not bad for a chain.

                    2. I love the smoked salmon hash with fingerling potatoes, pancetta, and fried capers at The Herb Box (Sunday only).

                      1. The Brioche sandwich at Bertha's cafe, with salami and pesto instead of bacon, best sandwich ever. 32nd and Indian School. The chorizo breakfast quesadilla at any of Richardson's stores, or their eggs bene with the jalepeno hollandaise sauce. (swoon). The carne asada and eggs at Taylor's cafe on 44th and C-back. and the salami egg bake at Original Pancacke house with potato pancakes on the side. now I'm really hungry.

carne asada and eggs at TAYLOR'S? i am very surprised to hear this. i used to be roommates with a girl who worked there for years and i couldn't bear to step foot in that place after a couple of visits. the food was flat-out terrible.

I've had some good meals there, but we pretty much order breakfast basics and burgers. Never had anything I'd call flat out terrible. What didn't you like?

                            1. re: kmarg

Huevos rancheros I believe is one of the dishes we ordered, but it's been at least three years so I can't really recall. I just remember thinking, "most of this stuff is right out of a can". I'll give it a shot again someday soon.

I love love love the jalapeño eggs Benedict at Richardson's. It's a mandatory stop for me when in Phoenix. Also enjoyed the breakfast at Black Bear.

                          3. Breakfast Nachos at Daily Dose or the big Apple Pancake thing at Original Pancake House

                            1. Chorizo Burrito anywhere I can find a good one. Two favs to date: Carolinas and Los Favoritos. My husband always opts for a machaca burrito, w/ or w/out potatoes - depends on his mood.

At the opposite end of the price/ambience spectrum, T.Cooks -- but you already knew that.

los favoritos makes an awesome chorizo burrito :)

                              2. I'm surprised nobody has said, "The Place (Mike and Rhonda's the Place)." Awesome! Not a nice looking place at all (more like a cafeteria), but the food is amazing and so cheap.

                                1. The pecan sticky bun at the Liberty market in Gilbert is probably the guiltiest of guilty pleasures. Thier breakfast quesadilla is delicious as well.
Bill Johnsons chicken fried steak and eggs is always a splurge.
Chompies has the best scrabmled eggs on thier daily breakfast.
That sticky bun at Liberty market will leave you will leave you with a smile...and you will need a nap.
