A Decent Hoagie in the Valley!

I've been away a while, so this may have been covered, but in my never-ending search for a decent hoagie I've finally found one in Studio City: it's Studio Subs.

Their standard Italian comes without lettuce, but you can ask for it. Otherwise, it's almost perfect. Not as flawless as White House Subs in Atlantic City, NJ, but a damn good effort.

And don't look now, but I've also been happy with Jersey Mike's--a chain, yes, and on the light side, but it hits the target.

Try Capriotti's in Encino...near Woodley on Ventura...They have terrific subs!

If you do a search on just the term SUBS alone you will find past posts that will be helpful.

If you like Studio Sub, no doubt you will LOVE Tony's Deli on Riverside, just east of Lankershim.

They have the same chopped veggies (tomato, onion, pickle) as SS, but their bread is better plus they just pile on the nice Boar's Head meats. Also, they put a homemade Italian dressing on their sammiches that just kicks ASS!!

I haven't been there in years, servorg. Nobody mentions them; I didn't know if they were still there or just not good enought to mention. The last time I had M&T was when they had a store on Victory. It was great then. Matt / Tony told me they had to close that location due to an IRS problem.

DeFranko's by the Van Nuys Fly Away. They have a regular roll and a soft one, I like the soft with the hot sandwiches. Mangia!

Yeah, but... I read raves about them and went there once. Wasn't thrilled. I guess I should give them another chance.

Thanks to all of you, by the way. I'm compiling these references and can't wait to try them.
