cheap yummy lunch in White Plains- anything not terrible fatty.

given the economic crisis, I need to find a cheap place for lunch for tomorrow in WP.
I don't ever go expensive - I love MELT and Turkish Meze but MELT really no seating and Turkish Mezze is still a good thought. Just wondering if there's anything else?
What's the pricing for the salads at Cheeburger? It's been posted as a great salad. I don't even know location or seating options.

Turkish Meze
409 Mount Pleasant Ave, Mamaroneck, NY 10543

  1. Don't know about their seating, but they are located across Mamaroneck from Iron Tomato. Check their website for pricing.

My favorite is the $7 sushi special @ Daido, the Japanese grocery on Mam'k Ave. next to La Bottega salon. Shhh, don't tell anyone.

is it take out or is there seating?

take out and sit on curb. enjoy.

iron tomato used to be great...

    2. Here's the link to the Cheeburger Plainview, LI salad menu with prices. I'd think the prices aren't much different in WP:

There is also the salad bar @ Whole Foods, and the to-go counter @ Kam Sen. Bao's (Chinese) has a lunch menu. Anthony's Coal Oven may have a lunch menu as well. Reka's Thai food has one, it's under $10.

      2. Right in the center of town, on Main St., is Karamba, a sort of pan-Latin spot, with comfortable seating and good prices.

that reminds me the bacon, egg & cheese on a roll with salt, peper & ketchup at the tiny place a few doors down from Kramaba is excellent and cheap BUT NOT LOW-FAT!

          1. re: Westjanie

I agree on Karamba - tasty and cheap (but probably not so healthy).

          2. I struggle with this same dilemma nearly everyday.

The new Shoprite has a lot of options like a salad bar, grill, sushi. It's cheap, fast and taste is decent. Seating is usually easy.

Atlanta Bread and Panera Bread are somewhat cheap and I like their food. Panera is normally empty due to its crappy location and also has free wifi like Atlanta. They're both on Main St.

Finally, like others have mentioned, Bao's has a great lunch menu. Many options starting at 5.95 that include soup/salad and your choice of rice. It can be healthy if you pick the right dishes.

The Wednesday Farmer's Market now has some vendors including Iron Tomato selling sandwiches, etc. for those who are strolling through during lunch. The falafel man from
Hastings (?) was setting up there last week. Not sure if he was selling ready to cook or or ready to eat items since it was very early. Rue de Crepe from Harrison was also there a couple of weeks ago.
