Charleston watering holes?

Headed to downtown Charleston on Sunday, and looking for places to drink...in a responsible, adult manner. We like hip, funky, classy, earthy, live music, sunset/harbor views. We hate pretense, price gouging, drunken frat boys.

Loved The Gin Joint. Order anything with bourbon or gin in it and it WILL be good.

Was at the Blind Tiger on Sunday two weeks ago and it was quite entertaining and a blessed refuge from the heat and humidity. if it's less tropical when you're there, they have a great courtyard. It's way downtown on Broad Street. No harbor views, but also no frat boys or price gouging either.

You guys are awesome. I appreciate how you're keeping us away from the college and touristy spots, too. Any places to hear quality live music on a Sun-Tues? (I'm even willing to cross a bridge, if necessary.)

Unfortunately, Jeff C., great views usually mean watered down, pricey drinks in a plastic cup. Vickery's on Shem Creek might be an exception, but do you really want to sit outside? Augh.

Have you ever been to Atlanticville on Sullivans? Thai Tuesday there is great and sometimes they have live music. Not earthshaking, just nice. And the food is amazing.
Sunday Brunch has Sangria and a guitar player that makes me wish I knew how.

Anyway, have fun. Find a breeze.

Will be seconding you on this one. Tried here on Saturday night (okay afternoon, but wanted seats at the bar). Had a few great cocktails with the Boss (read: Spouse), and loved the pretzels. Would particularly recommend the Penicillin.
