HELP! Bridal Shower planning -- Comfort food suggestions? CENTRAL/NORTH NJ

tricialin Aug 10, 2011 04:04 PM

Help! i'm a first timer at this. I'm hosting a bridal shower for my big sis who is getting married in November. She lives in Belle Meade, NJ and has requested a "comfort food" bridal shower... she loves mac n cheese, home cooking that kind of thing........ and also loves Mexican.
I don't want this to be a ho-down but I don't to break my bank either.
So the ideal situation would be comfortable / slightly upscale classic american who is willing to work with me on the menu a little! Party size would be ~20...

thanks.. suggestions welcome! i don't know much about NJ!

I know it is a little unusual, but if she is asking for comfort food, why not do an old fashioned pot luck with everyone bringing their fav comfort food? In exchange, make sure you give them a nice favor!

That's what I was thinking of doing also... (or getting it all catered!) issue is... my parent's house isn't conducive to large groups and it's in October, so we can't do it outside (which would have been ideal!) argh!

does she have a bridesmaid that would offer up her home?

Unfortunately, no... really just a maid of honor ( me), no bridesmaids!

You might want to try Old Man Rafferty's in Hillsborough. They might have the types of food you're looking for and they do private parties...

The food is the same in both places. The one in Hillsborough is stand alone and has a parking lot plus it's closer to Belle Meade.
