Korean (Meat) Market in Hawthorne/Lawndale/North Gardena

I know there are plenty of places in K-Town, and there is Freshia and Hannum in Torrance, but I would like to know if there are any Korean (meat) markets in Hawthorne/Lawndale/North Gardena. I knew there used to be one on Crenshaw and 150th but it closed down. I want to get some daeji bulgogi and some kimchi. Any leads? Thanks in advance!

  1. The Freshia seems to have closed...I drove past it a few days ago and it was closed during what should have been prime business hours. In Gardena, I know that Old Time Noodle House on Western sells marinated meats - chicken bulgogi, bulgogi, kalbi, and daeji bulgogi made from pork belly - by the pound, though I believe it was expensive, around $8/lb if I recall. They are a more casual offshoot of Shilla restaurant down the street.

For kimchi in the Gardena area, there is Kimchee House on Gardena Blvd. just west of Normandie which sells many varieties of kimchi and a few assorted banchans. I personally found the kimchi to be a bit on the sweet side, but it is serviceable.

Also, though it is farther south than you are hoping for, there is a Korean meat market called Angus Meat Market on the south side of Sepulveda just east of Hawthorne that should also have marinated meats and ban chans for sale.
