Where can I find a great fish sandwich?

Years ago, when I was a student at the University of Illinois in Champaign Urbana, we used to get THE BEST fish sandwiches at The DeLuxe Diner on Green Street. The DeLuxe is no longer there and I have been trying to find a dimilar sandwich on the north side of Chicago or the north suburbs ever since. Deep fried cod (I believe) on a warm bud with pickles and a little catsup. MMmmmmm.

Glenn's Diner features fish sandwiches. Not really a diner, and I understand the manager used to manage a seafood store---they are known for their seafood. Montrose right by the Brown Line.

I had a craving for one recently and satisfied it at Snappy's Shrimp House, which is on Irving Park at Wolcott. It doesn't come with catsup and pickles by default, but I'm sure you could get them to oblige.

Actually I've tried Snappy's based on a review on Chicago Gluttons. Must have been an off day :-/

If you're downtown, the Berghoff has a great halibut sandwich (they also do cod since the price of halibut has increased as of late).

And if the thought of a chain doesn't horrify you, I've always enjoyed Culver's walleye and cod sandwiches.

I haven't been to Berghoff's since the change over. Thanks for the tip. By the way, I am by no means a dining snob and frequent Culvers on a regular bases and enjoy their pork tenderloin. Will hhave to give their fish a try.
