i know that in germany, there are a lot of DIFFERENT, extremely tasty gummi candies manufactured.

is there any place in LA/ventura/oc that sells german gummis? i am willing to travel.

i am looking to surprise a co-worker who has done a lot of help for me and her favorite food in the world is gummi candy. ill get her lots of her favourites, but i wanted to surprise her with some german ones too...

I'm a fan of Haribo gummy candy, but I don't think I'd call them "unusual," as they are widely available. But I am pretty sure they are a German brand, my German husband loves them. They have a wide variety of Haribo gummy candy available at any Costplus World Market (one at Westwood and Santa Monica, one on Hawthorne Torrance, not sure where else). You can also check somewhere like Alpine Village in Torrance or Old World Village in Huntington Beach for German candy. But I don't know if the selection will be better than Costplus, and it will probably cost more.

Hi.. I only learned of the following recently, in closely examining a Haribo package label: though a German brand, their usual gummis available here are made in Hungary, then apparently come thru Baltimore, MD. I think the OP wants Haribo products (their gummibears are actually called 'Gold Bears') that are actually made in Germany. And by 'unusual', perhaps by that they mean unusual shapes and flavors...

Well, I don't know much about German gummies, but Japanese gummies are often pretty interesting.
Maybe for a "gummies of the world" present?
Try the candy section of a Japanese market: Nijiya on Sawtelle; Mitsua on Venice and Centinella or in Little Tokoyo; Marukai in Gardena.

Hope that helps...
