After eating at Raffi's tonight in Glendale, I took a walk up Brand and came across a Mashti Malone's sign. Confused, thinking that Mashti Malones was only on the westside, lo and behold, they've opened a branch in Glendale.

Perhaps it's been opened for a long time but it was new to me and a very pleasant surprise.

The owner was very friendly and gave both my friend and I samples of at least 6 types of icecreams. I ordered a double scoop: pomegranate and the herbal snow - really fresh and refreshing. Not very icecreamy though - more like ice slushes or sorbets. I would get the herbal snow again, which has these dark seeds in it. Will pass on pomegranate in the future because it doesn't have a distinguishable fruit taste.

Friend got mango and black cherry. I snuck a taste and both were quite good and really tasted like their respective fruits. The owner packed me a pint of lavender rosewater to go - like vanilla with subtle hint and aroma of the herb.

I'm so glad they opened an eastside branch!

Great! I never knew they opened up a Eastside location. Thanks for the information!

ps. On another note, Bristol Farms (at least the one in Pasadena) carries some hard-to-find ice creams, like rosewater saffron.

It's been open for about six months now.

The quality is not as consistent as the Hollywood location... recently we stopped in only to find that someone had turned off one of the (two) large freezer cases, so all the non-Persian ice cream had melted and refrozen (hello, ice crystals!) -- yet they were still selling it!

I had the same experience a few months ago at the Brand location. I also agree that the quality is not consistent at this branch.
I still go though :)

Love their Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream. i don't think business is too great at the Glendale location however, the ice cream often appears to be on the stale side.

McConnell's Santa Barbara ice Cream is still the best available in town for my money. Often $2.99 at Gelson's, the ISLAND COCONUT is heaven.
