I'm looking to have a wedding reception/party for approx 30 people around the Sunnyside area I'm looking to do it cheap cheap cheap and in November. Im just looking for a place for me and my friends to gather together and celebrate, nothing traditional. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

There are several nicer restaurants/lounges in the neighborhood that would probably be big enough for your crowd - Quaint, Sidetracks, Real Santa Fe, maybe even Claret or Salt and Fat. I don't know how cheap cheap cheap any of them would be, though, or how they would go about accommodating a party of that size. There are also some cheaper places that are probably big enough, but might not be as nice atmosphere-wise. Are you looking to do drinks and apps, a full sit-down meal, do you want it completely private, etc? Are you open to ethnic cuisine? Do you want a really nice atmosphere?

        Do you live in Sunnyside?
        What's "cheap"

Due to our budget restrictions we've decided to just try to have a gathering at a bar where our guests can buy their own drinks. I do live in Sunnyside so I want to keep it local. Any bar suggestions?

It really depends on the atmosphere you prefer. I would rather go to Claret than any other bar in Sunnyside, but if your friends aren't into wine, they might not care for it.

You can inquire about the party room/bar area in the basement of Tangra Asian Fusion. It's usually unused, but I've seen DJ'ed parties or small receptions down there. I'm not sure how they charge for it, but it seems like it could be an option.
