Ollie's Lebanese - new location in Sterling Hts. [DTW]

There’s not much that hasn’t already been argued regarding DTW Lebanese food. And, in the end, even DTW’s median is inarguably delicious compared to other “Middle Eastern” food in the U.S..

Nevertheless I must pile on, by commenting that I’ve long anticipated the opening of an Ollie’s in Sterling Hts., based on accolades by momskitchen. Sure enough, the new (July) Van Dyke & 14Mile one was great tonight. I had the mixed combo for two. Every single item was solid and nicely balanced. While the bread, etc., wasn’t necessarily always individually the very best I’ve had in DTW, each was very nearly the best, across the board.

My other Eastside favorite is La Saj, but Ollie’s was just more consistent. To think this area was a complete wasteland during the first couple years following La Shish’s demise… Now there is respectable Bostaan, Oasis and terrific Ollie’s all within a mile of the GM Tech Center.

The management at Ollie’s is going full tilt to gush personal attention upon their customers. Best of luck.

    1. I've never heard of Ollie's, myself. There's more than one? I'm going to have to give them a try.

The other location is in Dearborn at Ford and Mercury, SE corner. I've yet to try it, as well. Glad to hear good reviews.

Thanks, amandaqtpie. I actually happened across it this week when I was sent down to Dearborn on a job at the Einstein Bagels just across the street from Ollie's. I didn't get a chance to try Ollie's, since I had the job, quickly followed by one in Allen Park at the T-Mobile there. As a result, I was absolutely starving afterward, and decided that it was a night to splurge on Giovanni's Ristorante in Detroit.

I don't think I could have made a better call, no matter *how good* Ollie's is. Giovanni's is just magnificent. At least now, though, I know where Ollie's is.
