Where to buy Vienna Hot Dogs

Ever since I have been frequenting Windy City Eats I am becoming a big fan of Vienna Hot Dogs. Has anyone seen them in the grocery store?

Also, What brands do you get around here to grill at home? I mostly do Pearl and Kayem. Has anyone tried Boars Head or Maple Leaf? Just looking to increase my Hot Dog Kennel if you will!

  1. I like the Kayem ones. But you should also take the time to head up to Karl's Sausage Kitchen and pick up some dogs and other sausages from them. The Bauernwurst is a great addition to a hot dog kennel--it's like a fat, smokey, garlicky hot dog.

    1. According to the Vienna Beef website (, their products only are available at Windy City Eats and The Scotty Dog, in Beverly. They do, however, offer mail order. I have purchased their Chicago Dog kit, which was quite a hit.

      1. I find Vienna hot dogs at Market Basket at the Deli counter.

It looks like the "hot dog locator" on the Vienna Beef website is only a listing of hot dog stands, not supermarkets. So perhaps they are more generally available locally.

        2. My dad used the Maple Leafs at a recent cook out, and I thought it was an excellent dog, good snap and nice flavor. For perspective, I am a Pearl Country Club man myself, but will also do Kayem if Pearls aren't available. I would get them again. That being said, the other posters are right, Karl's is the bomb.
