where in Nevada (not Las Vegas)

Are there any interesting places to eat along Rt 50? I'll be exploring for a couple of days while DH is at a meeting in Reno. Thanks!

    Thanks, all!

I'm in Fallon at this moment, with a Heart of Gold on my motel room dresser.

If you're going to Carson City, try Villa Basque. They have a huge menu for breakfast and lunch, and on our recent trip there, the food was really excellent.

It is a little slim once you leave the Reno/Carson area. If you can find some Hearts of Gold melons in Fallon, that will be the high point of culinary experience. The International Hotel in Austin has been really spotty for low end cafe food. The Raine Market and cafe in Eureka is worth a stop for picnic supplies. There was also a small cafe making sandwiches on the east end of town that were a cut above the rest of the eateries in the area.

If you're going soon this should be Heart of Gold season. Sometimes you can also find them in grocery stores in Reno (Raley's) The bars in Austin are worth a visit for the ambience if not the food.....
