  1. Sounds great. I look forward to hearing reports when it opens.

    1. The article you linked doesn't mention a specific kashrut organization-- can I ask where you found out who would be supervising?

      1. re: Zahava424

I was told that the va'ad is giving the hechsher by someone who spoke to the owner. The post says they'll be closed on shabbat, and as far as I know only the va'ad has that policy in Philadelphia. That being said, the owner of falafel bar once told me that they would be under the va'ad and while they are also closed on shabbat, they are still under KO. I guess we will see when they open.

OK - the latest info I received is that they have secured the hashgacha of Rabbi Moshe Arbiv who supervises Judah Grill and are trying to get the Va'ad. Looks like they are opening tomorrow.

Bummer. I was hoping for something to look forward to on Thursday after a poissibly challanging morning apointment.I may have to console myself at Roz's instead.

                1. re: RJeff

If you make it there on Thursday, please share an update!

                  2. re: RJeff

RJeff - Not sure where you are getting your updates from, but I spoke to the owner today and he said they will be open tomorrow afternoon. The hashgacha is Rabbi Moshe Arbiv.

Can someone tell me how far this is from Drexel? I have to be there on Thursday for a conference and if it's close enough I may stop by on the way back to NJ.

                        1. re: DeisCane

it is about 3 miles from Drexel and it is basically on the way from Drexel to NJ, on 4th and South.

Thanks. Depending on when I depart, I may pick up some food for the ride.

                      2. re: kosherfoodfan

kosherfoodfan - I got it off the original link, which, as of last night, was updated with the info I mentioned.

                        1. re: RJeff

I spoke to the owner, which is probably more accurate, and hopefully not just optimistic.

              2. Sadly I have no report. My apointment went as well as it could, but I was just too tired and emotional to try to even get to South Steeet. I look forward to an exact opening date and to trying this new place hopefully next week. Sorry huys i am more bummed than anyone I am sure.

                1. So here is the latest update: chicken.org is scheduled to open tomorrow, and NOW burger.org, a burger restaurant on south st owned by the same partners, is ALSO going to be kosher starting Thursday!!! Word has it that they are working with Keystone K and that they made the decision to make both their stores Kosher instead of just the chicken place. This seems too good to be true but I have heard it from a a few reliable sources. Stay tuned!

                  1. re: kosherfoodfan

Does that mean that both will be under R' Arbiv's supervision until they work things out with Keystone K?

                    1. re: Zahava424

According to my sources, they will both be opening under the Keystone-K and not Rabbi Arbiv.

                    2. re: kosherfoodfan

                      Did they open?

                      1. re: barryg

Called Burger.org to inquire. They said Chicken.org will open Thursday.

Now open with free schnitzel and salad tonight only! Under the supervision of Community Kashrus.

                    3. OK we threw a chicken party tonight catered by chicken.org and it was close to the best chicken we've ever had from a restaurant. Yoni the owner is SO nice, he gave us tons more food than we needed. The schnitzel was out of this world, the wings were awesome, the BBQ chicken scrumptious, side dishes amazing, the baguettes were fresh and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just all around deliciousness! The prices were really cheap for Philly. We will be getting food from this place regularly. Highly, highly recommended!
Word is that burger.org is opening on Monday. We can't wait! OMG - Philly is becoming a kosher food haven! Who woulda thunk?.

                      1. re: kosherfoodfan

I can NOT wait to try BOTH of these places , hopefully next week. I'll be in the city later today, but I will be dinning on Max and Davids at the Phillies game! (it is Jewsih heritage night) Don't have tickets? 500 standing room only tickets go on sale at 4pm:) We got our standing room only tickets back in February as that was the best available - seriously.
                        GO PHILLIES!!!!!

                      2. Mekor Habracha keeps a very up to date list for Center City: http://www.ccshul.com/index.php?id=13
