Cocktails at British Bankers Club in Menlo Park?

I stopped by he BBC for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I didn't try any, but their cocktail list looked interesting. It just doesn't look like the kind of place that can consistently pull off as large a cocktail menu as they have listed. Has anyone tried their cocktails? Does the bartending live up to the aspirations in their menu?

  1. As much as I've eaten and drunk there, it's always the beers we drink. I wonder, too.

I went again last night and tried their cocktails, in the interest of science. I think sticking to the (excellent) beer menu is the right call. We tried 4 drinks. Every one of them, including the Negroni, was served in a pint glass half-filled with ice with a giant straw. It's not that they tasted particularly bad; they just weren't really classic cocktails as advertised.

I also thought the lunch menu was much more interesting than the dinner menu. I loved the lamb sliders on the lunch menu. The dinner menu didn't have anyhing out of the ordinary to offer. It was good pub grub, just not quite up to the billing of "gastropub".

But, still a great place if you're looking for a good beer menu and laid-back unpretentious service.
