Anybody been to Firebird Russian Restaurant?
Going in a couple of weeks. What is the proper attire for both men and women?

I've been. Has to be one of the worst meals I've had in Manhattan. Even The Russian Tea Room is better than Firebird, ifthat tells you anything. Even basics like borscht were poorly executed. Literally the only thing I had there that was remotely good was the caviar - and who could mess up caviar?
I would give serious thought to canceling that reservation.

Worse than the Russian Tea Room, now that's harsh! Unless it changed dramatically since the last time I went there, it's not all that bad, certainly not one of the worst meals I've had. And believe me, there's plenty of seriously messed up caviar out there :)

Dress however you want, but be warned: Firebird is kind of crap. In fact, pretty much all the high-end Russian places in Manhattan are overpriced crap. Mari Vanna would be my call for something Russian & upscale - their prices are a little better than at Firebird or RTR, and the vibe is actually a lot of fun.

I went to Firebird once, some time ago, and recall thinking it was awful. So much better to choose from in NYC, especially for the price...Just realized this was from August -- hope the OP found something better!

OK, this made me laugh out loud. Maybe Ninja for after-dinner drinks?
