Out of town and missed circulars; any lobster on sale?
I was visiting elsewhere and now I don't have the weekly supermarket circulars, plus I have out-of-town family to feed. Are any of the Somerville/Cambridge/Medford supermarkets having a sale on lobster? Thanks so much.

Thanks, guys. I went to MB in Somerville this afternoon about 4:00, lobsters were $4.99/lb and they RAN OUT OF LOBSTERS as I was waiting in line at the deli with my number! Some guy got the last five, and then there were no more! Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't been there. Several very bummed people were also waiting. Went to Johnny's Foodmaster on Routh 16, got a couple but at $8.99/lb. Still good.

As far as I can tell the news is that the lobster glut of a few years standing is very much with us. The following article is from this past July ...

If I'm not mistaken lobsters at the Reading MB are 3.99/lb this week.

Well, it really hasn't been my experience about MB and running out of things, but then I don't think I've tried to get lobsters on weekends before, for some reason. I also haven't tried to get a gallon of skim milk on a Tuesday, I guess. I do find that MB constantly stocks its shelves so there is a nearly constant supply of stuff. Now that I'm thinking about it, I do recall that MB did run out of canned pumpkin the week before T-giving, which was annoying. But generally I find that they have what they purport to have, very much unlike damned Shaw's, which stocks 10 of each sale item and then doesn't have any staff ever to go get the sale item from the basement. Or if you find a stockperson to send for the Breyer's chocolate chip mint or whatever, they disappear and don't return for 45 minutes. I will hear no wrong about MB!

They do tend to do an admirable job of keeping the shelves stocked, and it seems like things that are on sale are actually less likely to run out (lobsters excepted, I guess). But there's a number of things that seem to go out of stock on the shelves from time to time: skim milk, MB yogurt quarts, King Arthur flours, various hot peppers, and ginger seem to run out with some regularity (though they're almost always restocked within 24 hours). I love the place, but there have been a number of times when I've had to call an audible on what to cook because they've been out of something.
