New Year's Eve & 50th Birthday
I am spending my 50th birthday in New Orleans, which is New Year's Eve. I have celebrated my birthday in the past but this was pre-Katrina.
Trying to figure out a good restaurant for my birthday dinner. In the past, I have gone to celebrate at my favorite restaurants (any city), only to be disappointed, due to the holiday (choppy service, lack luster meas).
I was thinking either Cochon, Herbsaint or Muriel's.
Any suggestions, places and/or areas to avoid?
Thank you,

Now, you may have to check their schedules, but then you have time, but my choices would be Restaurant August, or The Grill Room (Windsor Court Hotel). I would hope that my wife would talk to the chef, and have a wonderful tasting menu, with the full-tilt-boogie sommelier's pairings for every dish, plus a bottle of Taittinger Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne, as the starter.
Most of all, happy birthday,
Hunt
PS - I hardly remember my 50th, but friends still tell me that it was fabulous, so my wife must have gone all out?????

I vote for Muriel's. They really have a nice place. Sit on the balcony before dinner and have a cold drink as you watch the folks in Jackson Square.
I had my birthday dinner at Delmonic's not too long ago. It's a great place too. Good luck.

re: KoloaDeb
I'm sorry. I misspelled Delmonico's. I did have dinner there on my BD on December 30th. I have been there 7/8 times. It's a great restaurant. Ask Saleem who is general manager to put your name in their computer for future reservations. They have some great folks working there. And Bob the piano player is fun too. Good luck.
