Driving from Seattle to San Fransisco

irodguy Aug 6, 2011 12:56 PM

I am flying into Seattle staying for 3 days and then driving along the coast to San Fransisco. I am from Dallas, so good seafood is at the top of my list.

I am looking for the most interesting places to east in Seattle then any suggestions along the trip South.

Duarts, in Pescadero, is everything a small town CA cafe should be.
Across the highway is Pigeon Point lighthouse, a delightfully funky hostel.
Hot tub above the surf, lighthouse, oh my.

Except Pescadero is almost fifty miles _south_ of San Francisco, and thus not on the way. I do like Duarte's, but it's more like an old roadhouse/cafe with big-city prices.

There was this post about a year ago. Some good ideas to build on there.

When I did this drive, I amused myself by stopping at the Northern and Southern-most Burgervilles, as well as the Northern most In-N-Out. But there are probably more interesting ways to go. Not that both Burgerville and In-N-Out aren't both fun.

From the Oregon border to north of the bay area check the California board. Sacramento south check the S.F. Bay Area board. Check the towns along your route 5 vs 101 using the search in the upper right corner.

Don't miss The Bay House in Lincoln City, Oregon. Killer view and even better food. If you're bringing a lady friend, make sure she doesn't miss the world famous ladies restroom!
