Anyone know where to dig? Say from Niantic to Old Saybrook?

As far as I know the area you mention is closed to all clamming. Nearest area would be Stonington. I'd call ahead to confirm that area is still open as things change rather quickly.

thanks. don't understand why there is such little information on the web. I did notice this cottage for rent in Giant's Neck. Said they got the clams from Pattagansett River
      http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rent...

There are also rumblings about the Niantic River - no details.

Maybe we will visit a local bait shop when we get to Old Lyme

You may also want to check with the local DEP office which is also in Old Lyme
at the end of Ferry RD. They would havr the lastest info on all clamming in the area.....Good luck
