Latest on Vij's?

Haven't been in a while (maybe 2 years?), Doesn't seem to have the buzz it used to have. Has anyone been recently? If so, is it still as good as it used to be? Still the same wait to get seated?

our 3 dishes there last week were sensational.
by contrast, the roti and naan were very much "off" -- very much like cardboard.

Vij's doesn't have a tandoor so their naan isn't very good. Their roti isn't good either....except for the dessert meeti roti at Rangoli.

Thanks bevo. That's great. Must be on the lookout for its opening. Surrey will sure to be a real challenge compared to South Granville.

Haven't been recently (I usually stop in next store at Rangoli for a late lunch or take out sans lineup).
I drive by fairly often and they always have a crowd out front for opening so the "buzz" still exists from that point.
The real wait is for his new location on Cambie, opening in the next year or so.

I'm so close to the new Vij's spot I can almost touch it. Nevertheless, there's really not much to report on their progress based on exterior appearances.

As far as I understand it, that they plan to move Vij's to Cambie and do something else at the current location.

Maybe expand Rangoli ?

Yeah. They busy trying to get their pre-packaged food line off the ground. Maybe expand the retail space? (Their plant is in Cloverdale). Still hoping for a vegetarian restaurant as I think Meehru Dhalwala (she's the chef) makes some of the best vegetarian food here.

That would be great! When I go to Vij's I always hope for a "dumpling" type veg application.
