Casual dining in Greenwich

what can I say Aug 5, 2011 06:29 PM

I am looking for a casual, not expensive, yet nice restaurant for dinner in Greenwich. Maybe a pub. Open to other suggestions.

Greenwich is kind of funny, in that there are some obviously high-end restaurants, and rather fewer nice yet casual places (if I'm interpreting your question correctly).

I have always had a soft spot for Sundown Saloon. More on the pub side than "nice restaurant" but the food is good and people are nice. I've always gone for lunch, so I can't say what the dinner crowd is like.

Not far from the main drag is Boxcar Cantina. Their food is tasty and departs a bit from the typical Tex-Mex fare (they call it Northern New Mexican).

Both sound worth trying. We have a soft spot for New Mexican food (my husband is an Anglo from El Paso) Boxcar Cantina sounds particularly worth a visit. Thanks!

I second Sundown Saloon for a good casual spot.

Occasionally you will encounter families with loud kids, but the food is pretty good and reasonably priced.

They always have interesting specials, but my go-to has got to be the El Paso Chopped Salad with bbq balsamic dressing.
