Pati's Mexican Table

In the past two weeks I stumbled onto this (relatively) new show on PBS's Create Channel. At first I just watched and listened. I liked the way she presents a dish with enough physical work that it feels real. Then I decided to go to the accompanying website to try to download recipes. Whoever is their IT person is brilliant. It may be the easiest cooking website to navigate that I've tried yet. The recipe links so far have all worked for me and the recipes make really good food.

This afternoon I learned to make her potato salad with pickled onions and her anise cookies that were on TV last night.

So far, every recipe I've tried has worked well. Even Mr. Shallots, who is a , shall we say, picky eater sort of picked at the tomatillo based mole, and after his second tentative taste declared that he'd never tasted anything like it before and that he liked it.

I like her show. I made the bean and cheese chimichangas. Very simple and very good.

Try the recipe for Tomatillo Jam. It's very good.

Pour it over a block of cream cheese and serve with cracker for a quick appetizer.
