large portions/low price in Pittsburgh

Hi everyone! I'm looking to show some family members around Pittsburgh when they come to visit from Chicago. They like steak, italian, nothing too far out of the ordinary. Could you suggest places that have large portions with entrees ranging from $15-$25. We would like to show them special areas in Pittsburgh so please keep that in mind with your suggestions! Thanks!

  1. Lidia's has a brunch on Saturday and Sunday. It's $24 for an entree and all you can eat from the antipasto and dessert tables. If you choose the pasta tasting as your entree, it's all you can eat of three different fresh pastas. http://www.lidias-pittsburgh.com

    1. You've gotta try Big Jim's in the run. Made semi-famous on Diners, Drive ins and Dives for the good up-scale bar food....and great portions!

Oddly, if one were to go through all the recommendations on where to find the best meals in Pgh, it's extremely likely that anyplace not mentioned falls into this category!

Big Jim's is a bit of a divey anachronism in middle of nowhere, but can't beat the value there, especially the sandwiches.

They'd probably like Jerome Bettis' place on the North Side. Make sure they visit the bathrooms.

If "a bit of a divey anachronism in middle of nowhere" were an answer on Jeporady...I would have said "What is Big Jims!"

          Perfect description.

That said, I agree with your Bettis Grille suggestion. Pretty good quality food in a nice setting, for a good price.

Try deblasio's at the bottom of greentree when I lived in Cincinnati would fly into Pittsburgh for their FETTUCCINE CARBONARA best I've ever had out very large portion. Also dont miss the fried zuccinni and the stuffed mozzrella sticks.I like to eat in the bar which has booths service more relaxed vs main dining room.

        2. Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will recommend Bettis' to my friend, based on these suggestions. Thanks again
