Chicken place - Middleboro
Does anyone know if it is still there and what it is called? When I was a child, we would always stop there on the way to the Cape. I remember it being called "Ben & Mildred's" and then Mildred died and Ben remarried. Then it became "Ben & Diane's". Anyone...?

If you are referring to Huckleberry's Chicken House right off the highway, I believe they are now closed.

We knew it as just the Chicken House. I spent summers in Middleboro as a kid (late '50s early '60s) and a visit to the Chicken House once or twice a season was always a big deal for us.
It appears to have changed owners a number of times over the years - if you google it you'll find references to not just Huckleberry's but also Justin's Chicken House, Fisher's Chicken House, etc, all at the same address. But it does appear to have finally closed its doors a couple of years ago.

Harry's Bar & Grill, Fireside Grille, Dave's Diner. All Decent enough, not really "Chow" destinations but respectable. I'd hit Harry's for cheap pub grub (good wings) with a cheesy aeronautical theme, kids love it. Fireside is another step up in price/quality and quite large. I think it was a Red Coach Grille years ago. Nothing too special but good, a cross- generational family-pleaser if you catch my drift. Daves Diner serves a decent breakfast in a restored stainless steel looking Diner.
BTW all three places are owned by the same guy (David Fisher) who was the last owner of Fisher's Chicken House.
