Large quantities of tomatoes for canning?

Hello,

I am looking to can tomatoes (and salsa, etc). I will go to my Hollywood FM on Sunday and scout around, but does anyone have any ideas where I could buy, say, a bushel of tomatoes for a good-ish price? I don't wanna rob anyone, but I appreciate a bulk discount as well.

Thanks!

Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark - has great pick your own tomato patch, and also farm stand - with discount pricing for seconds, iirc. Also - toward the end of the season - they have a "sale" on tomato - if you can wait that long. Check out their website for dates

Maybe Tapia Brothers Farm Stand in the Valley. You can call them and ask. They grow their own tomatoes and have plenty of them this time of year. I looked for a website but couldn't find one for them. There's a Yelp listing, but I try to avoid linking to Yelp here.

Excellent suggestion. Tapia Brothers does sell large quantities of tomatoes. They sell their seconds, i.e. a bit soft or cosmetically damaged, which are probably fine for canning for a discounted price. They don't have heirlooms, but they do have Romas which are the best for canning. They also have great sweet corn and strawberries.
