Steamed Lobster Dinner in Montauk

I take lobster seriously. I could eat lobster day and night. I like it just slightly undercooked and I eat all the guts... think Daryl Hannah eating lobster in the movie "Splash".

I need to know if any of the seafood restaurants in Montauk have a good lobster dinner.
And does anyone know where to get a good lobster roll?

Thank you!

  1. The Lobster Roll (famous as "LUNCH" because of its big sign) in Amagansett for the lobster roll

I personally think steamed lobster is boring (I like broiled), but you'd probably be very happy at Gosman's Dock in Montauk.

For dinner, Gosmans knows how to make a whole lobster and you get the whole fancy dining thing. For other menu items, beware.

Or try Perry Duryea over by the railroad station, if you want a more casual atmosphere. Whole or rolls. Also St Peters Catch in town by the ballfield, he makes lobster rolls to order and, while a little pricey, they are sublime. He also does whole lobster dinners.

Lunch aka Lobster Roll on the strip before you get to Montauk has a lobster "salad" roll. The meat is all chopped up like tuna salad. Not a favorite of mine.

      2. Perry Duryea or St Peters Catch (outstanding lobster roll $24 and worth every penny)
Gosmans is mediocre at best but has a nice view of the harbor.

I agree that the view is the only reason to have anything at Gosman's. Started limiting eating there to clams on the outdoor patio instead of the restaurant many years ago after some awful meals. Once upon a time, the food was good inside, too. A loooooooong time ago. I also didn't love being instructed by our server to tip in cash, which is what we normally do. We made an exception just for him. :-)
