A friend of mine went to Madre last night and discovered it's now a BYOB - this is also confirmed on the website: http://groupemnjr.com/madre/indexMain...
It's been that way for several months now.
It's been a few months since I went there ... but it's good to know it's a BYOB as I haven't seen it mentioned in any of the threads about good BYOB restaurants in Montreal.
Madre also has a SAQ outlet conveniently located right across if memory serves.
True, but the opening hours are not necessarily convenient as my friends discovered that it was closed when they went last night. Maybe at the end of the week it's open later.
How is the food there? Having some older family members coming into town this weekend and they would like some more upscale latin food. Any other suggestions?
Consistently excellent, at least, in all the times I've been and recent reports from a friend in the last month confirm that it continues to be excellent. Raza is even better, but at a higher $$ point (and is not BYOB, if that makes any difference).
You'll be fine on the food at Madre.
If having a wine list is important, the alternative is À Table in Ahuntsic (relatively plentiful free parking).
Raza is currently doing solely tasting menu format so you'll need to set aside some time.
